GARDEN RULES:

6BC garden rules are directed to one purpose - to keep people and plants safe. So when you visit, please follow the rules and take care:

  • 6BC is a working garden; you enter at your own risk.
  • As 6BC is under the aegis of the NYC Parks Dept. the  Parks Dept. rules must be observed: no drugs, alcohol, smoking or loud music
  • Visitors, especially those with limited mobility, please be aware that most paths are narrow and uneven. The path from the gate to the "treehouse" is the most even and accessible.
  • Please stay on paths (people and pets).
  • Children must be closely supervised by an adult at all times as the garden ponds are deep, some paths uneven, and some of the plants are thorny.
  • Pets are also welcome but must be leashed, under close control at all times. and must stay on the paths.  Please do not let your pet do its business in the garden.
  • Do not pick or break plants.
  • Do not run (the paths are uneven) or shout (please respect our neighbors and other garden guests).
  • Bikes, skates or skateboards cannot be used in the garden or block seating areas. Please secure them outside the garden or by the compost area near the garden entrance. The garden is not responsible for guests' personal property.
  • Candles, fires or barbecues are not allowed. There are fire extinguishers located by the library staircase and in the library.
  • Food is allowed, but please take your trash out with you.
  • There are no bathroom facilities in the garden.
Please consider keeping our garden beautiful by becoming a member, volunteer, or making a donation. Our garden is also available for events. Please see our Events FAQS.
